Community Minded
My name is Sid Spear, and I have called the Town of Erin home since 2000. I grew up in Ballinafad, the son of a tradesman who operated a local plumbing and heating business. In 1973, our family home in Ballinafad was ravaged by fire: the support of local fire departments, community groups and neighbours helped our family rebuild and had a lasting impression on me about the importance of community.
Twenty six years ago my wife and I purchased a home in Hillsburgh, and we have raised our three children here. Throughout these years we have experienced the benefits of community through participation; Station Road Nursery School, Erin Dance, H.E.A.D.S. Soccer, the Hillsburgh Skating Club and the Erin-Hillsburgh Devils hockey association to name a few.

A Practical Choice
My professional background is in logistics, sales and distribution within the construction and infrastructure sectors, with more than 25 years of experience in planning, coordination and operations. I have a practical understanding of infrastructure, project planning, problem-solving and working collaboratively to get things done — skills I believe will allow me to make informed, practical and responsible decisions as a Town Councillor.
In 2022, I received the Town of Erin Community Volunteer Award and the Shamrock Award for Volunteer of the Year recognizing the numerous volunteer roles within non profit groups like H.E.A.D.S Soccer and Erin Hillsburgh Minor Hockey association that I have held. I currently serve as President of the Erin-Hillsburgh Minor Hockey Association.

I currently serve on the Town of Erin Parks, Recreation & Trails Committee and the Construction Liaison Committee for the current wastewater project. Through my committee involvement, I am already familiar with the Town of Erin’s Council processes, Council and Town staff.
I look forward to bringing my practical experience, collaborative approach and passion for Erin to Council.
